Confession: I’m not really a salad girl. But on my journey to eat healthier, I decided to give a lettuce wrap burger a try. One bite in—it completely fell apart. So there I was, eating it with a fork, and honestly? It was amazing. That moment sparked an idea: instead of fighting with a lettuce wrap, why not just make a burger bowl?
Now, whenever I’m craving a burger, I skip the bun and build it bowl-style. It’s simple, satisfying, and totally customizable. You can toss in whatever toppings you’d usually put on a burger—and the flavors still hit every time.
This recipe focuses on the classic cheeseburger bowl you see pictured, but I’ll also include some fun variations to try if you want to switch things up. Whether you’re low-carb, watching calories, or just want something lighter, this bowl is a game-changer.

Endless Ways to Customize Your Burger Bowl!
Whether you’re craving something classic or a little more creative, here are some of our favorite combos:
- Bacon Lettuce Tomato – Seasoned ground beef or turkey cooked until browned, then topped with crispy bacon, fresh tomato slices, and chopped romaine. Finished with a light mayo or Greek yogurt drizzle for a protein-rich take on the classic BLT.
- Big Mac-Inspired – Crumbled lean ground beef, layered over shredded lettuce, diced pickles, onions, and a lighter “special sauce” made with Greek yogurt. All the bold Big Mac flavor, just lighter and low-carb.
- Mushroom Swiss – Savory crumbled ground beef or turkey mixed with sautéed mushrooms and onions, served over warm greens or cauliflower rice, then topped with a slice or sprinkle of melted Swiss. A rich, low-carb twist on the classic Mushroom Swiss burger.
Recipe
This recipe is all about flexibility – add as much or as little of each ingredient as you like. Serving size will vary depending on how you build your bowl, so feel free to adjust everything to suit your taste.
Ingredients
Feel free to add as much of each ingredient as you like – this bowl is all about making it your own.
- 16 oz ground turkey
- Taste of Inspirations Original Burger Blend seasoning
- Iceberg lettuce, chopped
- 2 oz dill pickle chips, chopped
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp Kraft Pickle Mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tsp mustard
Instructions
- Cook the Turkey: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey with the burger seasoning. Since turkey is lean, you might want to spray the pan with a little oil to prevent sticking. Cook until browned and fully done, then set aside to cool slightly.
- Prep the Veggies: Chop your iceberg lettuce, pickles, and onion. Add them to a large mixing bowl.
- Assemble the Bowl: Add the cooked turkey crumbles, shredded cheese, pickle mayo, ketchup, and mustard to the bowl with the veggies.
- Mix it Up: Use a large spoon to mix everything together until well combined.
- Serve & Enjoy: Spoon into individual bowls and enjoy right away—or chill it for a bit if you prefer it cold.
Note: You can always swap or add ingredients to suit your taste. I like to keep it simple with a classic cheeseburger flavor, but feel free to get creative.
