Jalapeño poppers are great, but have you tried date poppers? These make for an incredibly easy and delicious appetizer for any occasion. This recipe combines the sweet flavor of dates, creamy cheese, and crispy bacon, creating a mouthwatering bite of goodness. The first time I had one of these was at a work potluck, where my coworker used goat cheese, blue cheese, and a whole date. We’ve taken her recipe and tweaked it into a more bite-sized treat with a creamier twist.

Recipe
Yields 20-30 date poppers depending on packaging.
Ingredients
- 8 oz Medjool dates
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 pack of bacon*
- Toothpicks*
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Slice the Medjool dates in half and remove the pits.
- Spread cream cheese inside each date half.
- Cut the bacon slices in half or thirds, depending on the size of your date halves.
- Wrap a piece of bacon around each cream cheese-filled date half.
- (OPTIONAL) You can secure the date and bacon with a toothpick, but this step isn’t necessary.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy.
- Serve
Note: Feel free to use any type of bacon you prefer—pork, turkey, or beef—depending on your taste. You can also choose any cheese you like, but I personally recommend cream cheese for its smooth, creamy texture. If you want to skip the bacon altogether, you can simply stuff the dates with cheese! Just make sure the bacon is fully cooked before removing it from the oven. The key is to make it your own and create a flavor combination that you’ll love!
