Get ready to enter another dimension of dessert! Inspired by the chaotic genius of Rick & Morty, we took the classic Rice Krispies treat and transformed it into the infamous Eyeholes – because what’s a multiverse feast without a little madness?
These treats are simple to make but definitely get a little messy (and maybe a little cringe, in true Rick fashion). You’ll be shaping, decorating, and probably snacking as you go – no portal gun required haha!

Recipe
Makes 12+ onigiri depending on what size you cut them.
Ingredients
- 6 ½ cups rice cereal
- 1 ½ (15 oz) packages mini marshmallows, divided
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Red food coloring
- ¼ cup mini marshmallows (for green goo)
- Green food coloring
Ingredients
- Large pot or saucepan
- Silicone spatula
- Large mixing bowl
- Parchment paper
- Baking sheet or tray
- Microwave-safe bowl (for green goo)
- Measuring cups
- Small spoon (for adding goo)
- Nonstick spray or butter (for shaping)
Instructions
- Prepare your tray: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Melt the base: In a large pot, melt butter over low heat. Add about 1 ⅓ bags of mini marshmallows (reserving the rest for later). Stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Add the color: Stir in red food coloring until you reach your desired pink shade.
- Mix in cereal: Add the rice cereal and stir until fully coated and evenly pink.
- Shape the eyeballs: Lightly grease your hands with butter or nonstick spray. Scoop a handful of the warm mixture and form into round “eyeballs.” Press your thumb to make an indention in the middle of the eye. Place them on the prepared tray to cool slightly.
- Make the green goo: In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining marshmallows in 10-second intervals and then stir until smooth adding the green food coloring to create your goo.
- Add the gooey center: Spoon a bit of green marshmallow goo into the center to look like the eye’s middle.
- Set and serve: Let cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Note: Work quickly while shaping – Rice Krispies mixture sets fast! If it gets too sticky, butter your hands or use parchment paper to press and shape.
